Abstract
The crisis of sociology has been proclaimed repeatedly since the 1970s. After attending congresses of sociology on different continents, my perception is the exact opposite: sociology is experiencing one of its most stimulating and creative periods. Among the roots of this renewal is a lively dialogue between different regions of the world and an opening of sociology to perspectives that have led to revisit the history of the discipline. This renewed global dialogue has challenged false universalisms, Eurocentric and androcentric stances in the disciplines, and paved the way for revisiting its history, canons, epistemologies and main concepts. This ongoing work has built a sociology that is more global and better equipped to analyze the challenges of our times.
