【专刊征稿】CHINESE JOURNAL OF SOCIOLOGY 专刊征稿:中国与环境

2024-02-24 作者:

China's approach to the environment is reshaping society and nature across spatial scales. This special issue will pay close attention to the ways in which state policies and social processes interact with and/or impact the environment. Recent work has brought attention to, for instance, the sociological interventions on social-ecological systems and the social dimensions of climate change across micro, meso, and macro scales (Dietz, Schwom, and Whitley, 2020). While micro scales are understood to focus on small-scale individual interactions, decisions, and dynamics, meso scales focus on examining the interactions between groups, organizations, and institutions (Dietz, Schwom, and Whitley, 2020),and macro perspectives reflect large-scale processes that affect entire communities, countries, or regions. While extant work provides analyses at various scales, a special issue systematically analyzing the social dimensions on the environment and how humans are impacted by environmental change in China across various scales has yet to be produced. More integrated accounts across different scales, and an engagement within and beyond the field of sociology may provide fruitful insights on human–environment relations within and beyond China.

Filling this lacuna, we aim to bring together outstanding scholars in the sociology ofthe environment in Chinafor a special issue of theChinese Journal of Sociology. We welcome article submissions that focus on China and the environment domestically or globally.

Topics may include:

social dimensions of climate change;

resilience and adaptation;

environmental science and social change;

global China and the environment;

environmental discourses and practices;

impacts of climate change on social life;

biodiversity loss and governance;

domestic pollution and global effects;

environmental science practice and scientific knowledge production;

climate-induced disaster and human migration.

We invite environmental sociological perspectives on these issues, as well as contributions from other disciplines that speak to environmental aspects in and beyond China, such as human geography, environmental humanities, regional studies, science studies, and cultural and political theory.
