出身地:高等教育机会与代际流动的省际差异

【内容提要】出身地指个体出生与成长之地,具有独特的先赋性特征。本研究综合使用中国劳动力动态调查数据、普查数据和政府统计数据,考察代际教育相对流动水平在出身省份之间的差异,以及分省录取制度对该差异的形塑。研究发现:第一,不同出身省份在整体相对流动水平和中低教育水平出身子代的向上流动水平方面均存在显著差异;第二,高等教育录取机会的增加有助于提升出身省份的相对流动水平,促进中低教育水平出身子代的向上流动;第三,这种促进效应在客观不平等程度较低、受教育期望分布较为均等的省份中更为显著。

Place of Origin:Provincial Disparities in Higher Education Opportunities and Intergenerational Mobility

Abstract: Place of origin refers to where an individual is born and raised, possessing unique ascribed characteristics. Integrating data from the China Labor Force Dynamics Survey,census data, and government statistics, this study examines the disparities in intergenerational educational relative mobility level across provinces of origin and how the provincial higher education admission quotas shape these disparities. The findings are as follows. First,significant differences exist among different provinces of origin in terms of overall relative mobility levels and upward mobility among offspring from low and middle educational backgrounds. Second, an increase in higher education admission opportunities helps enhance the relative mobility levels of provinces of origin and promotes upward mobility among offspring from disadvantaged backgrounds. Third, this promoting effect is more pronounced in provinces with lower levels of objective inequality and a more equal distribution of educational expectations.
