【摘  要】本文结合社会学经典与前沿文献，采取文化社会学的视角，将分类作为综合性理论框架的核心基础，把赋值、量化、通约、评估和排名等过程纳入分类这一总体框架中，试图建立综合性的分类理论。本文结合当前我国社会现实进行讨论，分别阐述了上述过程及其之间的相互关系，力图为文化社会学这一重要领域的本土化发展创造条件。

Towards a Comprehensive Theory of Classification:A Cultural Sociological Approach

Abstract: Building on scholarship in cultural sociology, this article focuses on classification as the key process and underlying force connecting the state, organizations, and individuals which constructs and reconstructs the modern societyClassification highlights the symbolic power of the state and organizations, lays the ground for inequality and legitimacy, and provides the tools for individuals and social groups to process and perceive the society, social relations as well as themselvesThe author incorporates research on valuation, quantification, commensuration, evaluation, and ranking into an overarching framework of classification, explicating each and their relations with one another, with the hope to further introduce cultural sociology into Chinese academe.
